Boerentoren – KBC Concept

Permanent architectural projection mapping.

Concept development and technical study

I am developing an original concept for a permanent projection mapping installation on the KBC Boerentoren in Antwerp. This project is conceived as a long-term visual landmark, translating the tower’s history, vertical geometry, and urban presence into a clear and adaptable visual language.

The concept focuses on visibility from multiple viewpoints in the city, seasonal programmability, and long-term technical reliability. Particular attention is given to façade segmentation, viewing distances, brightness requirements, and content legibility at street level as well as from surrounding public spaces.

This project is currently in an exploratory and development phase. The next step is the creation of a scaled physical 3D-printed model of the tower, intended for projection tests and proof-of-concept demonstrations. This model will be used to validate content behavior, projection angles, coverage strategies, and visual impact before moving toward a full-scale proposal.

The study is being developed as an independent concept demo, with the intention of presenting it to the building owners and operators, the Phoebus Foundation, as a potential permanent cultural and architectural installation.
